Here are the details you will need to help things run smoothly:

🚙 Parking & Arrival

WHERE TO PARK:

1. Please park in the school’s spaces along Evans Ave. & 50th Street.

2. If those are full, try the curb closest to Griffin on 50th Street and Martin Ave. in back of the school.

3. Overflow parking is at Ridgetop Baptist at 51st & Eilers, just a block and a half away.

4. If you’re parking on the street, please be considerate and don’t block neighbors’ driveways!

ONCE YOU’VE PARKED:

When you arrive, we will welcome you and check you in at either one of the school’s two entrances.

Once you’re checked in, you can grab a nametag, a snack, and a drink, and meet us in the Big Room.

We will start promptly at 6:30 PM, so allow plenty of time to park, check in, grab a snack, and say hi to friends!

🚀 Choose Your Breakout Session

Space will be limited in breakout rooms, so sign up early to get your preferred session!

You can choose from one of the following:

• Activism 101:  If you are new to activism and/or are operating under intense time constraints, this group will identify some of the simplest actions you can take regularly that really make a difference.

• Arts, Music, Culture and FORWRD-ATX:  For the creatives among us that would like to help FORWRD-ATX tap the rich community of artists in Austin and bring their talent to bear on our efforts, this is the group for you.  You'll hatch a plan for how to engage our city's creative talent (in big and small and meaningful ways).

• Writer's Room:  This break-out will identify areas where we most need good, clear, strong messaging (not a Democratic strong-suit); clarify how to meet demands for new messaging; and how best to maintain a workspace for fun & creativity, while also building a searchable repository of our fully-baked writings.

• Brand Activation:  Following the presentation of FORWRD-ATX's brand work during the large group session, this break-out group will consider ways to focus and amplify the network's effect locally, and how best to disseminate our values and methods to others (we are regularly being asked).

• Merch & Swag:  If a design charette is your speed, join this group to identify or mock-up potential posters, apparel, and other merchandise for FORWRD-ATX members to carry/don into the world in coming weeks and months.  Most pressing will be the Undivided protest on April 5.  How might we make our mark there?

• Adopt a Winner:  At a recent rally, Congressman Lloyd Doggett encouraged attendees to "adopt a winner" - that is, identify (and throw your weight behind) one or more candidates anywhere in the country with a fighting chance of winning us back some leverage in Congress in 2026.  While this break-out group will not identify potential candidate(s) on April 3, we are seeking early input on the criteria and considerations we ought to be giving to this longer-term initiative. 

• McCaul Town Hall: Whether you reside in McCaul’s district or not (or aren’t sure), and/or know others who do, sally on over to the McCaul table. There, you can sign up for various town hall tasks, including helping recruit D-10 constituents to join us on April 26.

• Reaching Across the Divide: If some of your family and friends are not moving FORWRD, this session will hand you some tools for navigating the conversations you dread the most but want to see happen.

• Repair and Restore to Resume:  If your general mood is “I just can’t”, then look no further.  Join this circle to catch your breath, recenter, and generally re-energize.  You will come away with tools to get out of your head and back into your body; simple ways to nourish yourself; and strategies to self-regulate in especially stressful moments.
  

• Sign Making: If you’re in the mood to color and you like to plan ahead, join this group to work on signs to carry at the April 5th Hands Off Rally.

While we were making plans for Thursday’s gathering, we decided to create a Spotify playlist that crowdsources from YOU! Add a song that hits the vibe of the moment, the resistance, the uplift- whatever keeps you “Moving FORWRD”

Creativity and joy are essential, so add your groove. We'll play it on Thursday, but you can play it WHENEVER. 💃🏻
