Resistance Summer is Coming

Let's get creative. And LOUD. And relentless.

Send Us Your Ideas 💡

Here’s one thing we’ve learned about assembling a task force of smart, connected, talented people: there’s no shortage of good ideas for ways to keep the spotlight and pressure on the ongoing illegal and immoral activities of this administration.

There are projects, protests, trainings, campaigns, and other ways we could unite strategically. And after our successful McCaul Town Hall event, we’re ready for whatever’s next.

So please, consider this your invitation to send us your ideas! Should we start a local chapter of this cool group? (“… A great activity for those who are more introverted but want to be involved," according to their toolkit.) Should we launch a book club dedicated to learning more about autocracy and how to resist it? Should we adopt a red sister city, like the FORWRD-BLDR group? (More about them below!)

Next week, we’ll be sending out a survey to get your thoughts about the many ideas that have come our way. Before we do that, we want to hear from you! Please tell us how you’d like to spend your time and energy in the coming months.

Our mantra from the beginning has been “let 1,000 flowers bloom,” so let’s start planting some seeds and make it #ResistanceSummer together.

TOMORROW: McCaul Search Party Flyer Distribution

Have you seen our Congressman? Rep. Mike McCaul asked his constituents to elect him to be their voice in Washington, but he’s decided to lay low instead. We hope these door hangers will remind him of his obligation to District 10 voters.

McCaul Search Party! Meet Saturday 5/10 @ 9:30

Here’s the plan:

We’ll meet tomorrow (Saturday 5/10) at 9:30 at Saveurs La Boulangerie in Davenport Village (3801 N. Capital of TX Hwy, Suite D180).

From there, we’ll fan out into the neighborhoods of D10 (and McCaul’s own neighborhood, which actually isn’t in the district 👀 ).

FYI, our “search party” extends to Pflugerville, Smithville, and LaGrange — volunteers are distributing flyers there, too, in as much of District 10 as we can cover. Let’s DO THIS!

💥 Can’t make it tomorrow but still want to help? Email us at [email protected] and we’ll hook you up.

FORWRD-BLDR Joins the Resistance

FORWRD-BLDR launched last Sunday, May 4th, with 40 women in Boulder, Colorado sharing stories and brainstorming ideas of how to roll up their sleeves and move into action to restore sanity and humanity in this political moment.

The afternoon ended with everyone wanting more, and the group is making plans to gather again in a month. They believe their first project will be focused on building a relationship with a sister FORWRD group in a more politically "red" city.

If you know anyone around Boulder who’s looking for something to do other than yell at the news, they can reach out to Gia Medeiros ([email protected]). And reach out to us ([email protected]) if you want to help start another FORWRD chapter! If anything we’re doing can help folks in other cities start to organize themselves, we’re ready & willing to share.

Some Final Inspiration for this Mother’s Day Weekend

📸: Martin Surbeck/Kokolopori Bonobo Research Project

“Scientists have long wondered how female bonobos maintain their matriarchies. In a study, published Thursday … researchers provided the first evidence-based explanation for how female bonobos gain and sustain dominance over the males within their communities. Females, they found, form coalitions against males to tip the balance of power in their favor.”
