Let's Fight Back!

Dear Friends,

I feel like I’m jumping out of my skin as I read the news these days. What the hell is going on, and why isn’t anyone stopping it more immediately and forcefully??

I don’t want to sit on the sidelines as Donald Trump and Elon Musk attack our neighbors and undermine our community. These aren’t my values and I refuse to believe that they’re our nation’s values. Plus, honestly, I need to do something more productive with my time than doom-scroll on social media.

If you feel the same way, why don’t we get together and brainstorm what we can do to make things better? We have to make phone calls and show up places and demand answers and be loud, and God knows the Democratic Party can’t organize a message or talking points. But I’m also thinking about tangible things we can do for people who are directly targeted, or who will be by the end of this week. Donald Trump is creating whole new classes of vulnerable people that our community nonprofits aren’t prepared to serve. There’s work to do on so many fronts, and we all have skills and networks of our own that we can link together to have more of an impact than we could on our own.

I don’t know what any of this looks like or how to do it — but after only two weeks I know that I have to do something to fight back, or I will truly lose my mind.
