Here’s the situation: the Cook Political Report rates this race as “Likely R.” But we intend to act as booster rockets for Katy’s small & scrappy campaign. And we believe that every bit of work we put in to this district will help build a blue wave that can have repercussions in Texas and nationwide.
We’ve got a schedule of fun activities and road trips — let’s make history together! We’re planning a series of four “Katy Convoy” trips this Fall to strategic locations in the district.
We’ll have good music, a button maker, fun zines and stickers and other stuff to give away. We’ll set up shop at festivals, farmer’s markets, rodeos — anywhere that draws a good crowd.
Your Road Trip Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It:
KATY CHEERLEADER/MERCH GIVEAWAY: Calling all social butterflies! Your job will be to connect with folks, invite them to make a button or grab a zine. If you’re the one who brings the fun, we want you there!
BUTTON MAKER: This is still a social role, but operating the button machine lets you be part of the whole show in a quieter way.
DATA COLLECTOR/LISTENER: FORWRD member Rebecca Lawrence is cooking up a super-cool listening project called “Texas Roots, Texas Voices: Seeds of 23” that will build a living, interactive digital map of the district by collecting community stories and priorities. This will be an exciting part of every road trip we make — we’ll be giving away packets of wildflower seeds to participants!

ART & MERCH: We’re connecting with our friends who are artists and musicians to enlist their support in specific initiatives. If you’ve got friends in bands or galleries, we’d love to know.
GRAPHIC DESIGN: We want our materials to be fresh, fun, and inviting. And we want to churn them out as quickly as possible! Does this float your boat?
SPANISH SPEAKERS: We’re providing Spanish versions of all our zines. Can you help with some simple translation?
ZINE FOLDING/ASSET PREP: Could you host a zine folding party of your own? It’s a great activity for surly teens ….
TRAVEL AGENT: Do you love researching hotels & AirBnBs? (Or do you know someone with a house in the district?!) Put your searching skills to good use!
EVENT PLANNER: If you’re from somewhere in TX-23 and you know there’s a can’t-miss Fall event we should plan to visit, we’re all ears. Let’s do this together!
