We Threw Katy A Party 💃🏻
We’re beyond grateful to all of you who came together to make FORWRD-ATX’s very first political fundraiser such a massive success!
When we first started thinking about a fundraiser, the planners decided that raising anything less than $15,000 would be “embarrassing.” (We didn’t think so … that’s a lot of money! It’s more money than we raised for all our projects in 2025!)
When they reached $15k, they increased their goal to $20,000. Thanks to YOU, that was another goal achieved before the event 🥳
Drumroll please … as of today, we’ve raised more than $30,000 for Katy’s campaign ‼️
Y’all, that’s some real money. And YOU made it happen. You donated, you volunteered, you invited your friends to come. And together, we put on a great party for a great candidate!

First, Supertight rocked the house. Do political fundraisers typically have bands? THE COOL ONES DO 🕶️
Then Clayton Maxwell’s skillful interview gave everyone a chance to get to know Katy and hear more about her life, her values, and why she’s running for office. Her conviction and intelligence impressed everyone. We left feeling excited to help her get to Congress!

If you couldn’t attend the fundraiser but would like to watch video from the event, here it is in three parts: Part 1 is Wendy and Edie, Part 2 is Clayton’s introduction of Katy and the first part of their interview, and Part 3 is the bulk of Katy’s interview.
(Why is it in three parts, you might ask? Because the videographer was simultaneously helping her daughter, who was on the way home from college in Georgia. And as we know, everything stops when the kids need help ….)
It’s not too late to support Katy’s campaign — !

Who’s Got Spreadsheet Skills?
If we’re going to make any kind of impact in a district that spans more than 800 miles, we’re going to need to work smarter, not harder.

That’s a whole lot of Texas to cover
One idea that seems both useful & possible is hosting weekly Zoom meetings for anyone from a chapter of Indivisible, Red, Wine & Blue, Mothers Against Greg Abbott, or any other interested folks from across the district. Give all of us a chance to meet each other, share plans and ideas, and build community — which will all come in handy heading into 2028.
So! Step one is assembling a list of all those groups so we can invite them to join us. If you’re got basic spreadsheet skills and a few hours to spare, can you drop us a line? It’s a great way to get involved without having to leave your house ….
We Heard You! Let’s Sing!
Who wants to get together and sing some resistance songs? We’re going to give it a go next Sunday at the Little Stacy Park bandshell in South Austin.
Will this be an ongoing thing? We hope so — we’ll talk about it together and figure out what works for everyone.
Join us and let’s make some noise together!
