GOAL: Identify a candidate to “adopt” for the 2026 midterm elections
UPDATE: In April 2026, the FORWRD membership voted to put our collective support behind Katy Padilla Stout, who is running in District 23 against Brandon Herrera, whose nickname is “The AK Guy.”
District 23 is the largest district in the state, stretching from the suburbs west of San Antonio to El Paso. It is a solidly red district that voted for Trump by double digits.

But we believe that the time is ripe for a change.
We’ll be working to provide sustained support to Stout’s campaign in the months ahead. We’ll be hosting fundraisers and planning events — and looking for creative ways to boost her chances of winning. Join us!
